Become a Member
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through its six programmes. With over 110 member organisations in 85 countries and recognised by UNESCO and other UN organisations as a global leader in the fields of Environmental Education and ESD, FEE and its members are dedicated to changing the way people see and interact with their environments through our school-based programmes: Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), Eco-Schools and Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF) and Eco-Campus. In the tourism sector our two renowned eco-label programmes, the Blue Flag and Green Key, support the growing number of travellers who prioritise environmental responsibility in their journeys.
As a FEE member, your organisation is entitled to implement our programmes at the national level. New members join either as Associate Members (non-profit organisations and/or charities only) or as Affiliate Members (for-profit organisations, social enterprises or governmental bodies) and are expected to implement at least one FEE programme.
After approximately five years of successful collaboration and programme delivery, an Associate Member may progress to become a Full Member.
To support new members through the initial stages of establishing our programmes, every new member is matched with a mentor. Mentors are usually drawn from the FEE Board of Directors and are experts in the fields of business, environment and education.
Becoming a member not only ensures that you receive support in implementing FEE’s programmes, but it also grants you access to a global network comprised of dedicated organisations in the environmental and sustainability sectors.
Eligibility
In most cases, organisations eligible to become a FEE member should fulfil the following criteria:
Must be the only existing FEE member within their country if aiming for Associate membership.
Are a non-profit organisation, charity or both (Associate Members only).
Are a for-profit organisation or governmental bodies (Affiliate Members only).
Must be able to conduct their work at the national level, in all parts of the country.
Must be a democratic organisation that does not discriminate against people on basis on of gender, sexual orientation, race or religion.
Must have the financial capacity to implement the FEE programmes nationally and fulfil their commitments to FEE.
Must have the technical capacity to implement the FEE programmes nationally and fulfil their commitments to FEE.
Must have official agreements with the relevant authorities needed to implement FEE programmes nationally.

FEE Articles of Association - These articles will serve to give you an idea of the ethos and focus of the FEE organisation, paving the way for you to join as a fully committed and motivated member.
FEE Rules of Procedure - They provide clarity and detail for the interpretation and implementation of the FEE's Articles of Association.
Application Process
Organisations wishing to apply for FEE membership must submit an application form and enclose the following documents:
Statutes of the organisation.
Description and a list of members of the organisation.
Organisational structure chart showing job titles reporting/management lines.
Details of the organisation's staff including names and qualification of staff who will be running the Foundation for Environmental Education's programmes.
Activity reports and plans showing the type of work the applicant organisation does and will be undertaking.
Income and expenditure financial reports for the last three years.
Provisional budget for the first year of the FEE programme.
Three-year time plan including a budget for FEE programmes showing financial support. (Associate Members Only).
Details of how a second programme will be funded/implemented (Associate Members Only).
Signed letter of endorsement from Ministries of Environment and/or Education (Associate Members Only.
Agreement with FEE on the specific tasks related to the affiliate membership (Affiliate Members Only).
