Education Programme Interns

Location: Hybrid with 50/50 work-from-home and office arrangement in Copenhagen, Denmark. Fully remote considered for the right candidate. 

Position: 6-month internship. Up to 35 hrs./week, including a 30-minute lunch break. Part-time will be considered for the right candidates. 

Compensation: Unpaid, intended for students completing a study-related internship or early career job seekers looking to gain experience.  

Start date: mid-August 2026 with some room for negotiation

Are you the next generation of sustainable professionals? Are you motivated by data-driven communication, youth-focused education, and contributing to projects with real-world impact? The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is seeking 2 Education Programme Interns to assist with the development of high-quality educational resources, strengthening our digital presence, and supporting our global FEE network. In this internship role, you’ll build competencies in communication, storytelling, stakeholder engagement and applied sustainability practices.  

THE INTERNSHIP  

We are seeking 2 interns for the respective Education programmes: 

As our LEAF/ YRE Intern, you will engage directly with topics related to outdoor learning, Ecosystem Restoration Education (ERE), youth empowerment, and environmental storytelling, helping deepen people’s connection with nature and support environmental action and advocacy. You will also participate in  our work for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, including the ongoing #GenerationRestoration Schools campaign. 

As our Eco-Schools/ Eco-Campus Intern, you will engage directly with topics related to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Whole-Institution Approach, student and youth engagement, helping schools and campuses strengthen their sustainability practices and foster meaningful action. You will also participate in initiatives supporting environmental sustainability education, behavioural change, and collaborative learning across educational institutions.

Areas of work 

Each internship includes a tailored work programme, but typical areas include:  

Sustainability education and training  

  • Supporting with FEE Academy online learning modules. 

  • Learning and working with new digital tools and platforms. 

  • Creating maps and visual tools for education, restoration and outdoor learning projects. 




Communications and outreach   

  • Design of educational materials, infographics, and presentations. 

Supporting storytelling around greening education, outdoor learning and ecosystem restoration projects. 

  • Creation of engaging social media posts and campaigns, maintaining consistent communication and branding across platforms. 

  • Assisting with digital content and website updates. 

 

Research and monitoring  

  • Assisting with research on ESD and Ecosystem Restoration Education (ERE) 

  • Follow outreach, participation, and impact of our activities and campaigns. 




Stakeholder engagement  

  • Supporting communication with our members and FEE network. 

  • Helping with workshops and educational events on ESD and ecosystem restoration. 

  • Contributing to the dissemination of educational resources through our channels. 




Programme development support 

  • Supporting project coordination and follow-up tasks. 

  • Helping organise materials, files, and shared resources. 

  • Assisting with partner communication and outreach. 

 

Personal and professional skills and qualifications

We are looking for university students and recent graduates with the following qualifications: 

  • Strong interest in environmental sustainability, greening education, outdoor learning, and ecosystem restoration. 

  • Experience/interest in website management, digital platforms, online learning systems, or troubleshooting digital content. 

  • Experience creating visual and written content for social media and educational purposes. 

  • Strong Canva skills required; experience with mapping/GIS tools is an advantage. 

  • Familiar with social media platforms and content creation. 

  • Organised, proactive, and detail-oriented. 

  • Strong communication and writing skills in English. 

  • Comfortable balancing creative and administrative tasks. 

  • Able to manage multiple priorities independently. 

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment. 

  • Eager to learn and explore new tools and approaches.

Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis. We would like to fill the internship before the end of the summer. The interview will last approximately 45 min and can take place either online or in-person at our office in Sydhavn. We prefer meeting you in real life if possible!

This internship requires that you have a residence and work permit in Denmark, unless you are working fully remotely. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with relocation to Copenhagen.

ABOUT THE EDUCATION UNIT 

The Education Unit at the FEE Head Office manages the four educational programmes Eco-Schools, Eco-Campus, YRE and LEAF, and coordinates the development of FEE Academy, an eLearning platform to support FEE Members, stakeholders engaged with FEE programmes and ESD in the community in general.  Apart from the administration of our programmes and coordination of our global community of National Operators, the Education Unit is involved in the development and implementation of campaigns, PR and communications, designing educational resources, and networking with key stakeholders. To support our members and advance our strategic goals, resource mobilisation and fundraising, as well as global advocacy and policy engagement, are key aspects of our work.
