Attend a Webinar

A number of webinars have been organised by the FEE Programmes during the course of Litter Less Plus. More details will be made available soon and registration links will be shared three weeks prior to the event.

  • About: The importance of sustainable textile sourcing in the hospitality industry.

    Date and Time: 28th February 2023 at 2.00 - 3.30 PM (CET)

    Speakers:

This webinar is the first in FEE’s “Acting Against Pollution” series, part of Litter Less Plus, our action-driven awareness campaign and is dedicated to textiles and is organised by Green Key.

For hotels and other hospitality establishments, textiles constitute an important source of natural resources consumption and potential pollution (through chemicals) at the fabrication stage as well as during its lifetime. From daily use of bedsheets and towels in the guest rooms to restaurants tablecloths, or staff uniforms to name only a few, all can have a significant negative impact on the environment and increase the carbon footprint of the industry.

During this 90min session, our experts share their knowledge and recommendations on how to minimize the effects for the environment and climate through a more sustainable production and use of textiles in the tourism industry.

  • About: How private actors, public authorities and civil society cooperate to protect aquatic ecosystem.

    Date and Time: 23rd March 2023 at 2.00 - 3.30 PM (CET)

    Speakers:

Aquatic and coastal ecosystems provide essential services and value to our society, ranging from opportunities for recreation, to biodiversity support for many species, as well as serving productive and regulating functions. Pollution in its many forms threatens the health of the environment, as well as the health of tourists and communities who rely on such services.

The webinar means to highlight the importance of each stakeholder in the common effort to protect aquatic ecosystems from the threats of pollution and to implement sustainable development in inclusive, active, and engaging ways, as an expression of solid partnerships between the private and public sector, going hand in hand with civil society.

  • About: How the tourism industry is rethinking its services to offer eco-conscious alternatives. In this webinar, we share some of the best practices implemented across the FEE network, in particular as regards the Blue Flag and Green Key programme, to prove that more can be achieved with less, and to raise awareness about the need to replace disposable items in favor of a cradle-to-cradle approach.

  • About: Pollution is not always visible to the naked eye. Discover how digital clean-up campaigns have a significant impact on our environment.

Internet energy consumption is constantly increasing, but we don't always notice how our daily web activities related to it. Unopened newsletters clogging the inbox, hundreds of unsorted vacation photos in the cloud or just scrolling mindlessly on social media - it all consumes energy through the devices and data centres where the data is stored, moved and secured. However, all these small habits add up over the years to an actual CO2 footprint affecting our planet. Data centres that power the internet may emit as much CO2 as the airline industry by now. And managing our digital footprint is not only beneficial for our planet but for our mental health and personal security.

The webinar shares the experiences and feedback of the Estonian Digital Cleanup Week campaign for schools, which was held for the third time this year and attracted about 10 000 participants. Campaign consists of everyday tasks on participants’ devices that aim to organize our digital life, delete digital waste and help reflect on our behaviours, while also providing knowledge about our digital footprint.

    Date and Time: 12th September 2023 at 2.00 - 3.30 PM (CET)

Speakers: Liina Vakrööm, coordinator of the Estonian Digital Cleanup Week 2021-2023; communications specialist of the Eco-Schools program in Estonia, Environmental Education Centre Tartu Nature House and the Baltic Sea Project of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network.
