Recognising Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is proud to host the annual FEE Teacher Award 2026-2027, aimed at celebrating outstanding teachers within our global network who promote and integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in their schools and communities.

This award highlights the personal excellence of teachers involved in FEE educational programmes (Eco-Campus, Eco-Schools, LEAF, YRE), celebrating their achievements, and shares their inspirational stories throughout the entire FEE network. It is not a competition for a select few; rather, it is a recognition of efforts, and a celebration of the significant impact educators have made in their schools and communities.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the FEE Teacher Award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

The teacher must have been involved in one of FEE’s education programmes (Eco-Campus, Eco-Schools, LEAF, YRE) for at least three years.
The institution where the teacher works must currently hold a Green Flag or have produced a YRE Competition finalist or winner at the national level within the past two years.

Prepare Your Application

Fully complete the FEE Teacher Award Application form. This accounts for 60% of the final score. The application now includes the Self-Assessment Criteria Rubric; however, the self-assessment does not count towards the final score.
Submit a 3-minute landscape video illustrating your educational practice while implementing one of FEE’s programmes. This accounts for 25% of the final score.
- The video should be a short pitch that summarises and complements your written application by illustrating:
  - how you create meaningful learning experiences;
  - how students participate, make decisions and shape the learning process;
  - how your educational practices reflect the values and methodology of your FEE programme.

- The video does not need to be professionally produced. A simple video recorded horizontally on a mobile phone is perfectly suitable. Please add English subtitles if speaking another language.
Submit a support letter from a school stakeholder (parent, student, colleague, school leader, or other member of the school community). This accounts for 15% of the final score.
- The letter should explain why and how the teacher has made a difference in the school, with particular reference to their educational practice, relationships with learners, and the ways in which they embody the values and educational methodology of the FEE programme. Where possible, please include one or two concrete examples that illustrate the teacher's educational practice and its influence on learners, the learning environment, or the wider school community (Maximum 400 words in English).

National Submission Deadline: Monday, 18 January 2027

Check whether your National Office is running a national education campaign related to the FEE Education Awards.

If yes, submit your application through the National Application Tool.
If not, submit your application to your country’s National Office via email with the subject line: “FEE Teacher Award 2026–2027 Submission”.
If you are from an International School without a National Office, please send your application to iscoordinator@fee.global, with the subject line: “FEE Teacher Award 2026–2027 Submission”.
