Are you an educator who cares about your students and the planet they will inherit? Then the Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) programme course is for you!

This dynamic course is structured into five practical modules that equip you with the tools and strategies needed to integrate the YRE programme into any teaching practice. Through engaging real-life lessons and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to guide your students in exploring local and global environmental challenges. Most importantly, you will discover how to help them to research and implement actionable solutions.

Climate Change Education: From Knowledge to Action

You’re a teacher wondering how to teach about climate change? This course aims to help you develop solid scientific knowledge about this phenomenon, as well as pedagogical skills that are useful to tackle climate change in the classroom.

Time Required: 20-25 Hours

Target Group: Primary and middle school teachers

Getting Ready for Green Flag!

Getting Ready for Green Flag!

After following and implementing the Eco-Schools Seven Step process and collecting evidence of success, this course will give you an overview of the assessment criteria for the International Green Flag award and help you plan your journey towards a Green Flag Awarded Eco-School!

Time Required: 3-5 Hours

Introduction to Environmental Literacy

This course will introduce you to the basics of Environmental Literacy, by providing you with an overview of the environmental literacy concept and its components. The course, divided into 6 Modules, will also present to you the basis of environmental literacy excellence and how you can create your own logic model for environmental literacy assessment.

Learning & Teaching About the SDGs

In this course, you will be introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – the set of globally recognized goals that aim to secure a sustainable, peaceful, prosperous, and equitable life on Earth for everyone now and in the future by 2030.

Yes, the SDGs are indeed ambitious and need the participation of all of us! That is also why this course will provide you with specific ideas for how you can get involved and help achieve these goals through your school and local community.

This course is also available in French, Norwegian and Spanish.

Outdoor Education: Using Nature as a Classroom

This course aims to help you to prepare for teaching outdoors using nature as a classroom. The objectives of this course are to equip you with the necessary knowledge on how to prepare for, implement and evaluate an outdoor learning session with your students, drawing on the natural world for inspiration.

Storytelling for Climate Action: Filmmaking with YRE

Storytelling for Climate Action: Filmmaking with YRE

Come learn the basics of filmmaking through the environmental lens of the Young Reporters for the Environment programme! This course will help you figure out WHAT you want to shoot, HOW to put your ideas onto the big screen and WHY film is a powerful tool to raise awareness about environmental issues and SOLUTIONS in your community.

Time Required: 2-3 Hours

Storytelling for Climate Action: Photography with YRE

Storytelling for Climate Action: Photography with YRE

In this course, you’ll learn how to use photography as a powerful storytelling tool by going through each step of the YRE methodology (investigate, research solutions, report, and disseminate) in order to create an impactful photograph that raises awareness about an environmental issue you’re passionate about.

Time Required: 2-3 Hours

Storytelling for Climate Action: Writing with YRE

Storytelling for Climate Action: Writing with YRE

Words are a powerful tool to bring about positive change which is why in this course you’ll learn how to use them to write informative, engaging and effective journalistic articles about an environmental issue affecting your local environment. By going through the YRE methodology, you’ll learn how to investigate and conduct research on your topic, do interviews, and create a well-structured and impactful journalistic article.

Time Required: 2-3 Hours

Target Group: Young People, Ages 11-25
