Are you passionate about digital storytelling, creative content creation, and engaging global audiences through social media? The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is seeking a Social Media Assistant to help strengthen our online presence and share the inspiring work happening across our international network. In this role, you’ll use your creativity, writing skills, and visual communication abilities to produce compelling content that highlights our programmes, celebrates impact, and builds an active and engaged online community. 

 

THE INTERNSHIP 

As our Social Media Assistant, you will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s digital voice. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in climate and sustainability communications, giving you the opportunity to create content, support campaigns, and collaborate with programme and communications teams across FEE. You’ll help plan, produce, and publish social media posts; design visuals and short-form videos; monitor engagement; and contribute to the ongoing development of FEE’s social media strategy. It's an ideal role for someone eager to grow their skills, take initiative, and make a meaningful impact through digital communication. 

 
Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Create and schedule content across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook in line with FEE’s tone and strategy.  

  • Design engaging visuals and short videos using Canva (strong Canva skills are required).  

  • Write clear, authentic, and original captions and posts that align with brand messaging.  

  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to enhance your writing process while ensuring that all final content is fully original and human crafted.  

  • Monitor and respond to engagement, helping foster positive interaction with our online community.  

  • Support campaign planning by brainstorming ideas, researching trends, and tracking performance. 

 

Personal and professional skills and qualifications: 


We are looking for university students and recent graduates with the following qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, graphic design, communications, journalism, or a related field. We encourage students to apply for this internship as a part of their study programme. 

  • Strong passion for environmental sustainability and environmental education. 

  • Excellent writing and communication skills. 

  • Digitally savvy and willing to learn new digital tools and platforms (We use the following tools, but we don’t expect you to know how to use all of them - Canva, Hootsuite, CapCut, Squarespace, Flickr, Exposure, Google Analytics, and the Microsoft Office suite – some knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage). 

  • Familiar with social media platforms and content creation. 

  • A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving.  

  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.   

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment. 

  • Team-oriented and supportive, with the ability to work independently. 

  • A passion for staying updated on industry trends and an eagerness to explore new avenues in communications and digital platforms.

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is seeking a Food Sustainability Communications & Research Assistant to support the development of high-quality educational resources, strengthen our digital presence, and help communicate our work across the global FEE network. In this role, you’ll bring together research, storytelling, and digital communication to help our programmes inspire more sustainable food behaviours around the world. 

THE INTERNSHIP 

As our Food Sustainability Communications & Research Assistant, you’ll contribute directly to the creation, organisation, and communication of food-related educational content across FEE’s Education programmes. This internship blends research, content development, and digital communications, giving you hands-on experience in how global environmental education materials are designed, tested, and shared. Working closely with our education teams, you will help gather insights, support resource development, and elevate our digital tools and platforms to better engage teachers, students, and partners worldwide. 

 
Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Research & Good Practice Collection: Gather existing resources from the FEE network related to sustainable food themes (e.g., successful campaigns, lesson plans, educational materials). 

  • Content Creation: Produce case studies, good practice summaries, and other education materials related to food sustainability that support teachers/educators and FEE stakeholders. 

  • Website Support: Contribute to building the new Food Education toolbox platform. 

  • Data Collection: Gather and compile feedback from teachers on education materials (e.g.  lesson plans). 

  • Social Media & Communication: Assist in developing and implementing social media campaigns to engage and inspire our global audience.

Two positions International Coordinators of Education

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an umbrella organisation with members in more than 85 countries worldwide. FEE works to promote Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through its six programmes: 1) Eco-Schools, 2) Eco-Campus, 3) Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), 4) Learning about Ecosystems and Forests (LEAF), 5) Blue Flag, and 6) Green Key.  

The educational programmes, Eco-Schools, Learning About Ecosystems and Forests (YRE) and Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE), empower young people to create an environmentally conscious world through a solutions-based ESD approach. Green Key and Blue Flag programmes are globally recognised for promoting sustainable business practices and the protection of natural resources. 

FEE is recognised by various UN organisations as a world leader in the fields of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The Foundation for Environmental Education’s Head Office is based in Copenhagen and currently has 24 employees and volunteers of 11+ nationalities. English is the primary working language.  


Education Unit 

The Education Unit at the FEE Head Office manages the four educational programmes Eco-Schools, Eco-Campus, YRE and LEAF, and coordinates the development of FEE Academy, an eLearning platform to support FEE Members, stakeholders engaged with FEE programmes and ESD in the community in general.  Apart from the administration of our programmes and coordination of our global community of National Operators, the Education Unit is involved in the development and implementation of campaigns, PR and communications, designing educational resources, and networking with key stakeholders. To support our members and advance our strategic goals, resource mobilisation and fundraising, as well as global advocacy and policy engagement, are key aspects of our work.  

FEE’s Education Unit is involved in various projects and consortia, the purpose of which ranges from guiding international policy and sharing good practice, supporting research to test new ideas and demonstrate new concepts, and the development of new tools and materials within the scope of ESD. FEE has been invited to co-coordinate Pillar 1 (Greening Schools) of the UN-led Greening Education Partnership and is also part of the consortium (along with UNESCO and NAAEE) leading the Education Challenge as part of the UN Decade on Ecosystems Restoration.  

The advertised positions support FEE’s strategic development in ESD through the Educational Programmes. 

 
The position will report to the Directors of Education and work closely with other Directors and the wider team at the FEE Head Office. 


Job responsibilities: 

The positions will lead the following four areas of work.  

  1. Programme development – Develop and support programme activities in alignment with the strategic vision of FEE under the guidance of the Director/Senior Director of Education:

    •  Maintain an overview of the educational programme development at the global level and support FEE Members in the development and expansion of the programme at the national level. 

    • Support in the organisation of an annual National Operators Meeting. 

    • Development of monthly plans and implementation as per priority of tasks. Support in quality management of outcomes and outputs.  

    2. Administrative Support - Manage and support the needs of the National Operators: 

    • Support the creation of learning and development opportunities for the National Operators by leading the programme at the country level.   

    • Ensure a timely response to enquiries and requests from existing National Operators as well as potential new members and partners.  

    • Prepare various reports - Board reports, project reports, and other external reports. 

    • Support and create communications related to the programmes/projects – website, newsletter, social media etc.  

    • Ensure high standards in working with the team, assistants, National Operators and stakeholders.  

    • Manage administrative tasks related to the Moodle-based FEE Academy courses. 

3. Resource mobilisation for effective development of the programmes, including:

  • Support relationship management and networking with existing partners and supporting the development of new partnerships.  

  • Identifying and adapting existing available education resources to support the development of the programmes. 

  • Support the development of new educational resources to support FEE Members in improving the quality of the programme. 

  • Identify fundraising avenues and support proposal writing. 

4. Project Management: 

  • Support planning and coordination of project activities.  

  • Relationship management with partners. 

  • Supporting training of stakeholders and presentation at meetings/events. 

  • Financial oversight of the projects.  

  • Support in the production of interim and final reports for funders. 


Required qualifications and experience: 

The position plays an important role at FEE in creating a global impact on some of the world’s most pressing challenges. As a critical administrative position, it offers an opportunity to further strengthen the operational processes and organisational effectiveness of FEE and thereby enable further growth and impact of the organisation. 

The ideal candidates should have a master’s degree in sciences/education or equivalent, and experience working with ESD in educational systems at various levels. The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in an education project.   

Fluency in English is a must and experience of working in a multicultural environment is desirable.  

The position will work under close supervision of the Director of Education on the agreed tasks.  

A positive, energetic, and solution-oriented mindset, an organised approach, and the ability to proactively anticipate tasks and challenges will be essential for this role.  

 

Educational Qualification, Skills, and Abilities 

Educational Qualification and Knowledge  

  • A master's or equivalent in a sciences/education-related field. 

  • A degree/experience in education is highly desirable. 

  • Good knowledge in the field of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development. 

Skills and Abilities 

  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental or educational programmes/projects. 

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a team. 

  • High-level proficiency in using IT-based tools – MS Office, MS Teams, CRMs. 

  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment with high agility.  

  • Ability to contribute to high-level strategic discussions. 

  • Project management experience and high levels of organisation. 

  • Networking and advocacy skills. 

  • Basic skills in the development of educational resources, eLearning and training of teachers.  

  • Ability to multi-task. 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
